FAQ

What are the pre-requisites for the course?

1. Age:

  • You can commence flight training when you are 16
  • You must be 17 when you take the PPL flight test
  • You must be 18 when you take the CPL flight test.

2. Education - there is no minimum education required by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) for a person to train as a pilot, however we would expect that our students have a reasonable standard of education.

Please note: Educational requirements are more relevant when it comes to your potential employer (the Airlines). We suggest you contact those airlines you are interested in working for and ask them about their requirements.

3. You must pass an aviation medical examination.

4. You must be able to speak, read and write English. You will need an English language proficiency of IELTS 5.5 (International English Language Testing System) or equivalent. The Australian Government requires students form some countries to undertake an IELTS test as part of the student visa application (ask us if you need to know more).

Note: For students who do not meet the required standard of English or who wish to develop their English skills, a number of courses are available that can be taken prior to the pilot courses. Our associate College can conduct an English test which will indicate the length and type of course you require. Based on the information from this test we can quote you a cost for an appropriate course.
