Admission Requirements
- Completion of a Class 2 Medical
- English Language proficiency of IELTS 5.5 for all Assessment Level 3, 4 & 5 countries. Assessment Level 1 & 2 countries may be able to evidence the required English standard in other ways (please see below for full details)
- Must be 18 years of age by course commencement
- Must be willing to undergo Australian Federal Police check for your Aviation Security Identity Card
Privileges of Licence
On completion of your Private Pilot Licence (PPL) you can fly yourself and passengers, by day, anywhere in Australia in visual flight conditions. You can convert your PPL to a local licence when you return home. The Private Pilot Licence is a recreational licence only. You cannot be paid to fly as a PPL holder.

• Dual - Flight training with an instructor.
• Solo - Flight training with the student acting as pilot in command - no instructor.

• 53.5 hours dual Piper Warrior (includes 3.5 hours for PPL flight test)

7. Private Pilot Licence (PPL) test
You will demonstrate your skill to an approved testing officer by departing for a round trip with two or more landings/turning points enroute. You will be able to show that you can divert to an alternative location and overall, demonstrate competent planning and management of the flight, observing all procedures and rules, navigation, radio work and airmanship before successfully completing the flight.
After passing the PPL Test, you will be issued with the licence which enables you to fly anywhere within Australia, solo or with private passengers in daytime visual meteorological conditions. You will no longer require your instructor’s permission to undertake a flight as pilot in command.
Note:
The course fee includes all theory, textbooks, and flight test fee (for the first attempt only), navigation equipment, maps/charts and initial issue CASA documents. Note: to be determined as a "principal medium of instruction" at least approximately 50% of the tuition must have been in English OR * TOEFL Paper based test. Minimum test score 530
Should the student require additional training or have to re-sit any flight test, the additional cost will be charged at current published rates.
Landing fees and en-route navigation charges shall be charged separately. An invoice shall be issued every 12 weeks from course commencement and upon course completion.
Licence issue and theory exam fees are not included and are payable directly to CASA.
English Language Requirements:
For direct entry to Australian National Airline College you MUST meet the following requirements.
a. If you are from an Assessment Level 3, 4 or 5 country (as per Department of Immigration guidelines) you MUST undertake an IELTS test as part of the Student Visa application. You must score a minimum total of 5.5. Either the “General” or “Academic” IELTS tests are acceptable.

i. Our course comes under visa subclass 575 “Non Award” Use the table to work out your Assessment Level.
ii. If you don’t have access to the linked Country Assessment level document(see link above), contact us and we will advise you of your Assessment Level
b. If you are from an Assessment Level 1 or 2 Country, the following English Language requirements apply to you:
In accordance with CASA regulations we need to be satisfied that you meet one of the specified criteria listed below, by showing us a suitable document that gives evidence that you have met one of the following requirements:
i. The applicant has undertaken or completed his/her secondary education in an Australian or New Zealand educational institution, or the equivalent of an Australian secondary education in a country where one of the principal mediums of instruction had been in English.
Note: therefore, if you went to a Secondary School where English was the medium of Instruction and you completed your High School Certificate AND you can provide evidence of your school certificate and a statement from the School that one of the principal mediums of Instruction was English, then you will have met the requirement. If you cannot do this, you will probably need to do one of the English tests below.
The applicant is still receiving secondary education in Australia or New Zealand where the language of instruction at the school is English.
OR
ii. The applicant has spent at least three in the past five years of employment in Australia, New Zealand or a specified country (UK, USA, Republic of Ireland, Canada*), where the documented evidence may include a group certificate, a number of pay slips or a letter from your employer stating the period that you worked in that workplace
iii. If you do not meet i or ii above you will be required to undertake ONE of the following tests and achieve one of the minimum test scores outlined below:
a. IELTS (International English Language Testing System) minimum test score 5.5 (with no band score less than 5.0) Note: Test bands are listening, reading, writing & speaking
b. TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language)
* TOEFL Internet based test. Minimum test score 71
* TOEFL Computer based test. Minimum test score 197
c. TOEIC (Test of English for International Communication) minimum test scores. Listening: 350. Reading: 300 Speaking: 160 Writing: 140
